After The Death Of Chris Beniot, Do People Still See Wwf As Good Wholesome Famlily Entertainment?
I've always struggled to understand how wrestling can be considered "family entertainment" and with the death of Benoit, it baffles me even more.
If you are an adult and enjoy watching these violent soap operas, that's one thing; but is it wise to expose this garbage to children?

Got something to say?

Family entertainment? Where on earth does it say that? I agree, I’ll enjoy it, watch it and go to live events. But yeah……not my kids.
I have friends actually who don’t think a thing of letting their kids watch this stuff. And their 6 year old, bounded off the couch on top of their 16 month old and knocked the wind clean out of him. They imitate wrestlers all the time. I have enough problems with my kids to let them watch that!
I am still trying to figure out though who on earth called it family entertainment? I thought the MA and PG ratings pretty well meant……..not family entertainment.
ADDED: Now I see your point….and now I don’t know how to answer it. I think more or less people just don’t have as much time for their kids as they should so they look at TV as a method of “bonding” as insane as that may sound. They are doing something together in their mind and not looking at the ramifications of letting their kids watch it. Such as the 6 year old jumping on the 16 month old.
I know the parents of the 2 boys mentioned above bought my 7 year old a Benoit toy for his bday a couple months ago, and my son has no idea what the heck it is. I prefer that to jumping off the couch onto one of his sisters any day.
My response to some of the other answers: This is a very logical argument. Its opinionated and some people will in fact disagree. And Its gay? Wow. A H man, you probably shouldn’t have an Icon of you half naked with a pomeranian in your lap and call something gay. Its like the pot calling the kettle black, man. And there are Bally’s like everywhere. You should look into joining. Now, my response………………
Well, I don’t think that the WWE has been looked at as “family entertainment” since the eighties. But please don’t pin this on wrestling, Its in all sports. I think that the media using this one incident to launch an anti-wrestling campaign is an act of cowardice. They are trying to hit fans when they are down, as if the tragedy weren’t enough. Yes, the majority of fans will agree that what happened is almost unable to be comprehended, but are you saying that its the only place that this has happened? Do you guys want families to stop watching football too? Every bit as violent and at least 20 players in legal trouble right now. Still, no “After the Michael Vick incident, do people still see the NFL as good wholesome family entertainment?” questions. This is why we as Americans have the right to turn the channel if we don’t like it.
Sorry democrat, America is drawn to violence and not you or anyone else is going to change that. But heeeeey, good luck trying.
of course did your forget the attitude era where kids did not need to see WWE TV.
yep, those were ther days. i miss those days myself.
It was never really “famlily entertainment” to begin with. Only some teen pregnancy case (no offense anybody) would let their children watch that. Chris Beniot wasn’t the only one who died either. Don’t forget about Eddie G.
i try to stay away from fake sports if the kids know its fake its fine for them to watch as long as they are mature enough not a good family show
I don’t remember anyone with the WWE saying is family entertainment.
I think what happen at the benoit house. Had nothing to do with wrestleing. What we should be asking. Is why are all the major network pushing the gay lifestyle on our kids.
I never saw that as a Family entertainment. Especially when
they got half naked chicks on their and Dudes just jumping on
each other.
I love the chicks on their though!
Watch your mouth.
does anyone really think this is family entertainment?!
Honey you’re about 10 years off.
In 1997, Vince actually announced WWF/WWE was changing from FAMILY entertainment to ATTITUDE and HARDCORE entertainment.
Ever heard of the attitude era?
The absolute LARGEST surge of wrestling popularity in history?
Yep.
I’ve never considered WWE or any other wrestling league part of the “Family Entertainment” segment. What baffles people more is not the fact that he died but more so that he killed his loved ones. If he had simply taken his own life, I wouldn’t have taken much interest in the case. When you take the life of someone who can’t defend themselves that’s another story.
WWF is for losers…has been for years. I wouldn’t call it entertainment of any kind. Bunch of steroid abusing losers showing off their ignorance!
what does benoit’s death have to do the show? if ur argument would have been has wrestling ever been a show for the entire family, then i could consider ur question as logical. rap stars, hollywood badboys, political leaders are way better role models, aren’t they? what better entertainment is there for kids, teens and young adults so that all 3 categories would derive pleasure from one 2 hour show?
shawn michaels is an extremely talented wrestler, he has a natural physique, i don’t think he’s ever taken steroids.
Yea, I agree with ya
