Did Wcw Have Their Own Attitude Era As Of Wwf?

Category: Q+A

(Real answers please, dumb answer ain’t welcome, for instances “WCW Rulz” are not acceptable answer). I seen many WCW matches and episodes. Compare to WWF matches, the look far superior that WCW matches. That which i believe but not sure to be exact. Five sentences or more information is enough. The more you write the better I’m satisfied, the more chance you get 10 points.

not really more like classic moments and matches then attitude era
wwf was the only company who had that wwf was creating new era while other company’s starting classic moments and matches

Both WCW and the WWF copied off of the Original ECW, so they both became more cutting edge and exciting and moved away from Cartoon Type Characters, moreoover, both companies raided ECW and took wrestlers from there.

WCW Nitro made its debut in 1995 and was very family oriented as was Raw at the time. Eric Bischoff decided to start aiming WCW for the 18 to 34 demographic and his main thing in doing this was having Hulk Hogan turn heel in 1996 and be the leader of the NWO. After that happened WWE started losing to WCW in the ratings war so the WWE changed and Stone Cold Steve Austin, DX, The Nation, Mankind, and The Undertaker became the top stars and started doing more adult storylines. by late 98 and early 99 WCW was losing to WWE and so WCW started copying WWE by cussing and doing sex jokes and having wrestlers do shoot interviews in the ring and it didn’t work for WCW

In my opinion Wcws own version of an attitude era was around 1989. I’ve been watching some old videos on youtube and by the look of it I had no idea Wcw could go insane like that.
Terry Funk vs Ric Flair was nothing but a brawl in your style match.
Sting vs Muta had the best chemistry that I ever seen.
Gary Hart was getting close to retirement.
1989 was probably an insane year for Wcw, but that’s my opinion.

no the attitude era is what the period of 1997 to 2001 for wwe was. Nitro may have been edgy when they first started winning the monday night war but it was nowhere near close to how edgy wwe was. i mean hello they had the mae young giving birth to a hand angle and val venis about to get his little buddy chopped off. nitro tried to be edgy with alot of worked shoot promos but it didnt work like the brian pillmans got a gun cuz it was mostly scott steiner coming out and cutting promos about ddp and other people. also the wcw’s edginess was all about who will join the nWo next so no it did not have its own attitude era it was only wwe.

The closet thing to the attitude era in WCW was the formation of the nWo at Bash at The Beach 1996. The hostile takeover storyline is why WCW beat the WWF in the ratings for 84 weeks in a row before falling victim to over saturation. For a while the nWo was pushed as a dominant group of highly talented athletes and then slowly but surely they killed it by adding more people to it. The nWo was kind of like D-Generation X as in that they did what they wanted to do whenever they wanted to do it. It was must see television until they started adding mid carders and jobbers to the group.

I guess you can say that wcw had their own attitude era.. It started when they turned the biggest face in the history of Professional wrestling, hulk hogan heel. Together with scott hall & kevin nash, hogan formed the nwo, which was considered edgey for it’s time. It was the first time that a group held so much power in a wrestling promotion. They did whatever they wanted & they were at times unstoppable. They ambushed the other top wrestlers spray painteded them. I feel that the nwo was the fuel to the fire that became the wwf’s Attitude era. The wwe at the time, although they still had great wrestlers like Bret hart( before he jumped ship), Michaels,Undertaker, mankind etc, they kind of catered to a young audience like they do today. The Nwo era of wcw , forced the wwe to become more adult oriented.

WCW didn’t have an “attitude era”, because the “attitude era” went to whichever company had the most adult-oriented, edgy, and kickass show.
But WCW did have moments where they outshined WWE/F
When everyone left for WCW… Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, Sid, Hogan, X-Pac, etc. … WWF was feeling some pain.
Luckily, Triple H, HBK, Stone Cold, And The Undertaker stepped up and propelled a wave of new superstars past WCW and into the future.

Got something to say?
