I see where you’re coming from. Because the “Attitude Era” is that mythical time when the WWF “didn’t suck”, and they did achieve their highest ratings of all-time (even higher than “Hulkamania” at it’s most popular), it seems most of the younger fans associate the “Attitude Era” with the initials “WWF”.
It’s possible that some, who don’t watch the “kiddie” WWE, might see “WWF” and assume that the name-change also means a format-change back to the shock TV of the late 90′s.
But that assumption would be incorrect. The consequences of the “Attitude Era” were too costly. Drug abuse, career-ending (and career-shortening) injuries, deaths, governmental investigations, every form of media known to man vilifying the WWF, big-money sponsors not wanting to be associated with the WWF…
The “Attitude Era” was a brief aberration in the history of pro wrestling. It served it’s purpose (to help the WWF win the Monday Night Wars against WCW) then was put to rest. It’s not coming back.
“A rose by any other name…is still a rose”. Yet another name-change would be purely cosmetic, and would not change the WWE in any way.
The name of any wrestling company means nothing to me; the product itself is the only thing that matters. Even the names on the roster is of less importance than the performances of it.

Bored of saying this but one more time wont hurt
    IT IS JUST A NAME!!!!!!
Vince could have called it Pink Bunny Fluffy Wrestling Hour, he would still have made the same choices, pushed the same people and everything that has happened since the name change. Why are wrestling fans so hung up on the names? Paul Heyman’s ECW is dead, the WWE’s version is a good wrestling show in a different way. The WWF would have gone PG and pushed John Cena. If they could changed the name back the show would be exactly the same as if it didn’t change.

They can’t change back to WWF. The World Wildlife Foundation took them to court because they have used the letters WWF for years, and it was like a trademark or copyright infringement or something like that.
